Our History

Reverend Luther C. Wyatt, Pastor Young’s father, successfully founded Living Water Missionary Baptist Church (LWMBC) in Fairfield in 1998. In October 2010, at LWMBC, Reverend Oneal Young, Jr. took over for his father. With encouragement from a close friend (Pastor William H. Coleman) and while serving as pastor of the Living Water Missionary Baptist Church in 2017, God propelled Reverend Young’s heart towards new inceptions and The Greater Purpose Church of Fairfield was established by Living Water Baptist Church in 2017!
On Friday, August 18, 2017, GPC held its first special night of prayer and outreach services at the Fairfield Community Centre. The City Prayer Revival was the name of the launch (CPR). It was a triumph! In addition to live music and singing, new church resource ministries, New Life preaching, Children’s Place, and booths for community partner resources, the CPR featured a special prayer time for families, individuals, and special situations. GPC would play the key role in answering the age-old question: ‘Why I am here and what is my purpose in life?’”
With the intention of enabling individuals to live the Greater Life by carrying out the Greater Works that Jesus Christ declared his disciples would perform, Pastor Young founded The Greater Purpose Church which is serving some noble purposes like-
- God’s Nurturing Father’s Group,
- Prayer & Purity Sisterhood (teen girls),
- Children with Purpose (up to 12 yrs.),
- Couples & Parenting groups
- Bible studies taught through the week.
