ABOUT PASTOR ONEAL YOUNG, JR.

Pastor Oneal Young, Jr., is the leader of the Greater Purpose Church of Fairfield, California. He was born in Hayward, California to Pastor Oneal Young, Sr. and Mrs. Jerri Young.

Pastor Young received his Bachelor of Arts degree from American Baptist College in Nashville Tennessee; a Master of Divinity from San Francisco Theological Seminary where he was awarded the distinguished Kneeland Preaching award out of his graduating class. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary.

Pastor Young serves as Executive Director for The Center for Black Education Empowerment and Purpose (B.E.E.P.). He was appointed to the office of Religious Chair of the Tri-City Branch of NAACP of Fairfield California 2020-2022. In 2017, he was bestowed the NAACP’s President’s Medal of Freedom Award. He is also a Chaplain for the Fairfield Police Department of Fairfield California.

Pastor Young currently serves as Prayer Director for the Greater Sacramento Vicinity Baptist Ministers Alliance, Sacramento California and third vice president of the North Bay Ministers Union of Vallejo, California and is an active member of Faith PAC – Faith, Partners and Community of Fairfield, California.

In 2011, Pastor Young began his pastorate at the Living Water Baptist Church in Vacaville, California. In 2017 he was led by the Spirit to organize the Greater Purpose Church of Fairfield California, where he is pastor.

Most recently, the ministry has secured a new location.  Greater Purpose Church has expanded beyond its physical location to worldwide via virtual church location, GPC Anywhere, which reaches thousands of viewers globally.

An authority in the subject of prayer, Pastor Young has recently finished his book, The Prayer Memoirs of a Preacher is set for release in the first quarter of 2023 in tandem with its new podcast.

His inspiring sermons and teachings in prayer, paired with the gift of prayer and administration make him a sought-after speaker and lecturer and consultant in these fields.

He is married to Patricia D. Young, a Career Job Placement Coordinator at the Solano Community College. Together they agree that God has intertwined their greater purposes and that their most significant accomplishment to date has been the miraculous birth of their daughter, Ms. Neela Young. Pastor Young acknowledges that all things accomplished are rooted in prayer and faith in the power of God.
